I came across a really good article this week, written by Mark Easton, the BBC's Home Editor on his blog. He looks at the collated figures of forecasted growth in dementia (not happy reading as we all know), but then looks at how dementia sufferers fare across regions in terms of diagnosis and spending per patient. With observations such as
" In Berkshire West, with a population of just under half a million people, they spent £34,000 on prescriptions for dementia sufferers. In North Lancashire, with a population of around 340,000, they spent more than £1m."
the article clearly illustrates the Postcode Lottery in all it's glory...
